The Coherence of Living Systems

Living systems are astonishingly coherent. The human body, for example, consists of anywhere from 37.2 trillion to 100 trillion cells, and each cell produces 10,000 bioelectrochemical  reactions every second. Every 24-hours, 1,012 cells die and are replaced.
